Animal Program: Holding an AlligatorAnimal Program

This program is designed to introduce students K-12 to the DNR and how the DNR protects and conserves our state natural resources. This program involves the use of live animals, mounts and exciting “hands on” learning.

Advanced Project WILD workshops are weekend programs that provide in-depth information on specific wildlife topics.  Emphasis is placed on instructional strategies and materials that can be utilized both indoors and in the "the outdoor classroom."

Hey Kids! Would you like to go fishing? Fishing and being outdoors are great ways to have fun. You can learn about and enjoy your environment, too. You’ll have a chance to encounter all kinds of plants and animals. You will event get wonderful prizes, all free! 

Reel ArtReel Art

The Reel Art contest is open to South Carolina students in Kindergarten through 12th grades in public, private, or home-schools. Students may submit original works of art that have not been copied from published photographs or other works of art.

The Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is an integrated art and science curriculum developed to teach environmental science and habitat conservation.  It has been designed to fit in with existing programs.

Coastal Discovery Marine Program

In 1969, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources  (SCDNR) Marine Resources Division initiated a marine science education program based out of Fort Johnson. Utilizing the Research Vessel (R/V), Anita, SCDNR staff provided hands-on educational activities to teach students and teachers about the inherent value of South Carolina’s marine ecosystem and resources.

The DNR offers over twenty education programs for all audiences.  If you are a 5 year old girl, teacher, retiree, or a 'city slicker' we have a program from you.  Let us introduce to South Carolina's natural resources to you in unique and memorable ways.
