Project
WET (Water Education for
Teachers) is a nonprofit water education program and publisher for
educators and young people ages 5-18. The program facilitates and promotes
awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources
through the dissemination of classroom-ready teaching aids and the
establishment of internationally sponsored Project WET programs.
Our Mission
To Reach Children, Parents, Educators,
and Communities of the World with Water Education
Project WET believes:
-
Water moves through living and nonliving
systems and binds them together in a complex web of life.
-
Water of sufficient quality and quantity is
important for all water users (energy producers, farmers and ranchers,
fish and wildlife, manufacturers, recreationists, rural and urban
dwellers).
-
Wise water management is crucial for
providing tomorrow's children with social and economic stability in a
healthy environment.
-
Awareness of and respect for water
resources can encourage a personal, lifelong commitment of responsibility
and positive community participation.

Programs: The
centerpiece of the Project WET program is the Project WET Curriculum and
Activity Guide. This guide contains over ninety broad-based water
resource activities that were developed and field-tested by over 600
educators and resource managers working with 34,000 students nationwide. The
Guide is praised by educators and is characterized as "comprehensive and
thorough background information for teachers" with activities that are
"flexible and well designed...relevant and meaningful."

So
Are you interested? Here is how you can get Your own activity
Guide. To receive an activity guide you must attend a Project WET
workshop. Most of the time a school will decide that they want to add
Project WET to their curriculum so they would call us up and we will come
out and have a 3 to 5 hour workshop.
There
is a cost of $20.00 per activity guide. We will provide all materials
and activities guides. All we ask from you is to have at least 12 to
25 teachers attend for the entirety of the workshop. That's it!
The workshop is designed to introduce you to the material, do a few
activities, and have fun.
If
you are interested you can call (803) 734-3885 or
email Steve Bates (Project
WET State Coordinator) to set up a workshop in your school. Also
you can check out the national website
for more info about the program.
